# Components:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 2 tablespoons maple syrup
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Pinch of salt

→ Matcha Layer

08 - 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
09 - 2 tablespoons hot water
10 - 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

→ Strawberry Layer

11 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
12 - 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
13 - 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup

# Directions:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until thoroughly blended.
02 - In a small bowl, whisk matcha powder with hot water until completely dissolved and smooth. Add almond milk and stir to combine.
03 - In another bowl, toss diced strawberries with lemon juice and maple syrup. Gently mash approximately half of the strawberries to create a chunky fruit sauce while keeping remaining pieces intact.
04 - Divide half of the oat mixture evenly between two mason jars.
05 - Layer strawberry mixture over the base, reserving some pieces for final topping.
06 - Mix remaining oat mixture with prepared matcha blend until uniform, then layer over strawberry layer in jars.
07 - Top with reserved strawberry pieces and seal jars with lids.
08 - Refrigerate sealed jars for minimum 8 hours or overnight until oats absorb liquid and thicken.
09 - In the morning, gently stir contents and serve chilled directly from jar.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • You can make two jars Sunday night and actually have breakfast waiting for you on Monday and Tuesday mornings without pretending you'll cook something elaborate.
  • The textures surprise you every spoonful, shifting between creamy oats, soft-mashed strawberries, and chunks of fresh fruit.
  • Matcha gives you a gentle energy lift without the jittery feeling of extra coffee, and people always ask what makes it taste so mysteriously good.
02 -
  • Matcha lumps are your enemy—whisk it with hot water first or you'll bite into them later and wonder why part of your breakfast tastes intensely bitter.
  • Don't skip the lemon juice on the strawberries; it keeps them from browning and adds a brightness that actually makes you taste the matcha better.
03 -
  • Whisk your matcha in hot water first, let it cool completely, then mix with cold milk—this prevents the temperature shock that can make it taste slightly bitter.
  • Buy whole strawberries and hull them yourself the night before; pre-cut berries weep juice and lose their bright color faster.
